Product Review: Affirm 5 in 1 Reconstructor on Natural Hair!

Hey yall! I’m here to do a product RAVE. I remember loving Affirm 5 in 1 reconstructor from my relaxed days, and I always wondered if it would work as well on my natural hair. Well thanks to one of my lovely clients I was given the BIG bottle of Affirm 5 in 1 as a gift since she felt she wouldn’t need to use it now that she has locs.

I had it sitting around for quite a while and for whatever reason I decided to give it a whirl last weekend. I did my typical routine. I slathered the treatment on my twists, tied a plastic bag around my head, then tied a towel around that, and let it sit, I was being lazy so I let it sit for like 2 hours inadvertently lol. The results were nothing short of astounding. The label says that it works to strengthen, lay the hairs cuticle down and limit porosity, and from the feel of my hair afterwards, I must say it delivered!

I havent felt my hair this smooth and supple since I went and got the color done last year, heck maybe even before that! I will definitely be sticking to this and Aphogee (review to come) for the foreseeable future. I’m really happy with this!

I found your blog post bc I googled affirm 5 in 1 on natural hair lol. I must say, I have the exact same experience!! It says it is supposed to restore relaxed hair to a healthy state but this far, it is the only conditioner that leaves my hair SOO soft since being natural! I just wanted to make sure there wasn’t something wrong w/ using a conditioner geared toward relaxed hair on natural hair before I went out and bought a huge bottle lol. Thanks for the post!

Glad to hear that Marie! I actually think its a great idea for natural ladies to use products geared towards relaxed ladies because if you think about it, they’re products designed to treat severely damaged hair and bring it back to some level of strength, if used on natural hair that only has subtle damage/wear n’ tear, it will work wonders!

Its an awesome product, my only issue with it is it strips color 🙁 I tried to rinse my previously bleached hair darker and the color was rinsing right out after using this lol it’ll be perfect when all my hair is back to its natural shade though.

A great restoring treatment out there is the pro naturlas hair repair mask. if you combine it with the shampoo and conditioner your hair will be healthy in no time at all

I found the answer that naturals do use this as a protein conditioner. I too found her blog by googling Affirm 5 in 1 on natural hair lol. Now I am just wondering do you use this weely or biweekly?

Hey Kristin, I use this whenever my hair feels like it needs some strengthening and I don’t have enough time to do my beloved henna treatment, I feel like I do this like once a month these days, I find it works best when I leave it in for 30mins.
