The Unlikely Product that Turned my Skin Around

Hey guys! So this is a little different then what I usually post about but I really wanted to share this with you all because it truly turned my skin around in a matter of days.

I have oily acne prone skin. And when I say oily….I mean OILY. I’ve been using Proactiv since high school but in recent years my skin just stopped being responsive to it. Plus I just hated paying that high price over and over so I stopped.

I’d literally been on the verge of just buying proactiv again because I was at my wits end. But then one of my best friends suggested to me that I try Calamine lotion as an over night mask and that it could really help with breakouts by drying the acne out. I was VERY skeptical as I’ve been dealing with bad breakouts for months on end but I started using it and saw results in a matter of days. It really shrank the pimples down….my pores are getting smaller, my skin is smooth, the blemishes are fading, my brother just asked me today if i was wearing foundation and I had a bare face…..it was awesome.

This didn’t change the oiliness of my skin but it does absorb the oil from your face for a few hours which is nice. This is also super easy to sleep in because it doesn’t rub off easily.

I am just IN LOVE with this product I’m so elated to be back to the point that I don’t need foundation, I just put gloss and a little eyebrow corrector and I’m fresh faced and out the door. Its been so long since I’ve been able to do that.

As much as I love this I’m trying to keep things varied so my skin doesn’t get too used to anything. So my next adventure will be in the oil cleansing method. I will be back with my experience with that next!

So if you have similar issues to mine and you’re struggling as I was, you may want to consider giving Calamine Lotion a try, it very well may knock your socks off.

Yay congrats! I have been on OCM for about a week now and I really like it. I have extremely oily skin and using OCM has really helped to lessen the amount of grease on my skin haha. I hope it continues to work for me and has the same effect on you! Good luck!

Great article!! Can’t wait to try this out. I’ve heard about the OCM and would also like to give it a try.

I OCM every night and I try to exfoliate with a honey/sugar scrub 1-2x weekly. That’s really it. I try to drink as much water as I can daily. I am definitely keeping it simple. Hows it going for you?

You’re welcome. I have to say that I think I am going to scale it back to OCM 3 – 4x a week. Nightly is starting to have an adverse reaction on my skin. So my advice to you is to see how your skin reacts and adjust! 🙂 Good luck!!!

I started using calamine lotion on my face in high school and never got acne. I think that and not using makeup in my 20s is why I’m now almost 39 and have great skin.

I used to have really bad acne and extremely oily skin until I did some research and I found out that Dairy is a huge culprit for acne. Dairy was never meant for humans to consume..it is strictly for baby cows. . Cow’s milk naturally contains the large amount of hormones and protein needed to turn a 80-pound calf into a 1,000 pound cow in one year. The huge amount of hormones and fat in the milk disrupt out hormones and it comes out through the skin and thats how you get excessive oiliness and acne. Cut out dairy completely for 2 weeks and your skin should clear up completely. I have cut out dairy for 2 years. it’s hard at first but it gets much easier as time goes on. and when your skin starts clearing up it gets much easier.

That sounds really interesting Ashley, I definitely believe that what we eat has repercussions for our skin health overall well-being etc so I definitely think you’re onto something for sure. However, I never drink cow’s milk, always almond milk, I have yogurt sporadically, but not often, the only dairy I would say I eat regularly is eggs. But thats definitely some good food for thought. Thanks for your insights and I agree with you 1000% on cows milk.
